Smile

Wise men say it takes less effort to smile than it does to frown. As a matter of fact it is perfect in reinforcing the fact that it takes less number of facial muscles to smile than it takes to frown. To be exact it requires 17 muscles to smile whereas it requires 43 muscles to frown. So smile people! A smile is not just an easy task for our body compared to frowning requiring less facial muscles, it is also regarded as a good deed when smiling in the face of mankind.

Research studies show that smiling can impact a person’s health via the release of certain neurotransmitters within the brain. Every time an individual puts on a smile, their neurotransmitters including the serotonin, dopamine as well as norepinephrine become released. Furthermore, endorphins, the opioid neuropeptides stored in our brain gets released also and are known to make people feel happy.

Serotonin helps fights of depression, enhances memory and promotes learning among other positive impacts within the individual. Dopamine, yet another neurotransmitter that is released in the brain, helps elevate a person’s mood as well as responsible for feelings of reward and motivation. These health benefits of smiling help to make the endogenous neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine as well as endorphins nature’s antidepressants for the benefit of mankind.
